Examinations and Assessment
Internal Assessment
All pupils at St. George’s are continually assessed in their education and parents are informed regularly of their child’s progress throughout their time at St. George’s. Our pupils’ work is consistently internally assessed and parents receive two full reports on all subjects, annually. In addition, all pupils from year 3 onwards receive a final summative assessment at the end of the academic year.
External Assessment
St. George’s School follows the English National Curriculum and is an officially registered centre for the Oxford and Cambridge Examination Board (OCR); Cambridge International Examinations (CIE); University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES); Associated Qualifications Authority (AQA) Edexcel Examination Board and the IB Diploma Programme (International Baccalaureate Organisation, IBO).
Pupils are entered for external examinations (explained below) when both the school and the family feel they are fully prepared. This is not specifically dependent upon age.
Fees for external examinations are payable by parents on entry for the examination. External examination fees are NOT included in the termly school fees.
Pupils at St. George’s normally take the following examinations:
Common Entrance (This is required if the child is to proceed with his/her school career at a Public School in England.) at 13 years old
I/GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) at 15-16 years old
