Homework / prep hour

In order to aid self-discipline, organisation and to reinforce work learned in school, all children at St. George’s from Y03 onwards are expected to complete a certain amount of homework. Homework tasks range from 10 minutes per night in Year 03 rising to 25 minutes in Year 06, and up to 25% of subject time per week in Year 11.

However, we do realise the need for children to relax and participate in Extra-Curricular activities in the evenings and we therefore offer after school support in the form of Prep Hour and Clinics.
Prep Hour is offered for pupils starting in year 3, and takes place between 3:30 and 4:30 in the afternoon. In Prep Hour children can complete homework tasks under supervision.
Clinics are intended to give academic support for pupils starting in Year 7 in subject areas such as Mathematics, Science and English and may take place during Lunchtime or after school.
