Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

St. George’s is one of the few Internationally registered centres for the The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. This Scheme promotes excellence in academics, sports and social awareness for pupils starting in Year 10. Successful completion of the initial programme results in the award of a Bronze Medal and we are very proud of the fact that 70% of our Year 11 pupils over the past two years have achieved this accolade. We look forward to our first cohort of Silver Medal F12 pupils in September 2008. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme takes place during school ECA time, after school and occasionally on weekends.

St. George’s also offers an extremely popular junior version similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, ‘The Shackleton Programme’. This heavily subscribed programme promotes adventurous pursuits such as orienteering, camping, climbing and outdoor survival. Excursions are led by experienced professionals for Pupils starting in year 3. The Shackleton Club runs after lesson time and is open to all Lower School pupils.
