Welcome to St. George’s School

Founded as an English international family institution in 1985 in Cologne, St. George’s cherishes the friendly atmosphere and international spirit that it has successfully fostered amongst its staff and pupils.

Our vision has become so successful that we now have two sister schools in Duisburg, since 2002, and Aachen,  since 2007.

This site is designed to give you an idea of what we have to offer. We cordially invite you to make an appointment to come and see our school in operation.

St. George’s is a state-approved (staatlich anerkannte), co-educational, non denominational school which seeks to provide the best of the English and international education systems for children aged 2 to 18. We aim to achieve high academic standards by means of small classes, dedicated staff, and a flexible timetable, tailored to the needs of the individual child.

The intake of the school, including over forty different nationalities, is a reflection of our international outlook. We know that changing from one school to another can be a trying experience, and we make sure that newcomers feel at home as quickly as possible.

English tuition available!

We can provide for your needs with specially tailored tuition to help your child integrate into the St. George’s family.

Our main aim is to nurture your child’s ability within a responsible and happy community, encouraging personal development in terms of academic success, physical health, moral stability and imaginative alertness. We like to think that when pupils leave St. George’s, they are fully educated, well informed, cultured and have minds of their own as well as a strong sense of values.

In order to attend to the individual needs of each pupil, class size is limited to 20, but many classes are in fact smaller.

At St. George’s we have an open door policy and parents are invited to speak to us at any time. A full set of reports on each pupil is sent to the parents twice a year. Additionally, we have a parents’ evening each term to ensure that every parent has the opportunity to discuss specific topics in greater detail.

All pupils at St. George’s, from the age of 2 to 18 years, wear school uniform.

The school is a completely independent organisation, receiving no financial assistance from any authority.

We prepare pupils for the Common Entrance, I/GCSE, AS Level, A-Level and IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme). Both the A-Level examinations and the IB are accepted by universities worldwide.

Our aims can be summarised as follows:

  • To provide a high standard of education for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 18.
  • To bring together pupils with different interests and experiences from a range of regional and national backgrounds.
  • To educate the pupils in the value of self-discipline in and through their studies, by engaging their interest and arousing their intellectual curiosity,
  • To provide a sports programme that will give every pupil regular exercise along with the chance to develop their sense of team spirit.
  • To provide a varied programme of cultural, artistic, and leisure activities that will promote the skills and confidence of each pupil.
  • To promote courteous, considerate and polite manners among our pupils.
  • To appoint teachers of high calibre and to give them the opportunity of fulfilling their aspirations.
  • To continue to provide high-quality facilities and resources for learning and teaching.
